I have had a ProMariner two bank charger up at the front of my boat for the two trolling motor batteries for a couple of years and it bit the dust. Also have had a two bank guest in the back compartment for the starting battery just using one of the banks. So when the pro mariner bit the dust I moved the guest to the front to charge the two batteries, man this thing gets hot! It got a little hot when I had it in the back charging the one but now this thing would fry an egg. Any thoughts??
Yes they get quite warm.

I have a Guest 3-bank on my boat. It gets warm but not hot. Sounds like a problem to me.

They get very warm, but it should not get hot enough to burn your hand. If you cannot keep your hand on it I would have it checked out. Send guest an email and see what their reply is. If they say it should be replaced, I would get a dual pro 10amp per bank.
When I mounted mine, I used spacers about 2 inches thick under the mounting holes to provide a standoff for air circulation. My 2-bank is mounted in rear of boat. I open the hatch cover when recharging and charger never gets so hot I can't put my hand on it.
I also have a quest 2 bank 10amp 5/5 it only gets warm make sure you have air flow around unit
