    Default Humminbird Waypoints question

Does anyone know how to take Lowrance Waypoints that I have on a spreadsheet and convert them to work with a Humminbird? I do not have any of the card reader type stuff at home and have no clue how that stuff works.

I have always just plugged them in manual. As big of a pain in the butt that it is thats what I have always done. But I can not fina anything on the net to help me out here?

    Thanks Lee

Do you not have them in a unit of some sort? There is a sticky above (I have not looked at it) that looks like it would help you out on the conversion, but you may have to be able to upload them into a program for the process.

Update: Go to gpsbabel. They have input and output choices for Lowrance and H'bird files. You could try entering your points there right out of your spreadsheet. I don't know if it will work that way, but it couldn't hurt to try it. You may have to download your points off your Lowrance onto a flash drive and go from there.

Talltimber, I tried all that last night before I posted this. gpsbable does not convert. The link you refer to works if you have the information is on a card. I just have the waypoints on a spreadsheet.

    I appreciate it though.

Jon, without the waypoints on a card with the Lowrance waypoints it does not work...

Why are you not out fishing today?

Without a card reader, your best option is to enter them manually on the Hummingbird.

Card readers and SD cards are cheap. Do yourself a favor and buy one. They hook up to your computer right through a USB port and act just like any other storage media (i.e., disks, etc.). You may have to convert the Excel spreadsheet to a text file (export it), making sure that the fields are in the right order, then use any number of software programs to convert it to Humminbird. Some of them may take the Excel file directly.
