    Default Lowrance

Anyone running a HDS7 or 8? CP's donut has worn me out on my HB. Played with the units at a BPS, and they seem to be OK. Always liked Lowrance 2D.

I have a 7 & 8 with LSS-1. I like the 8 better cause it bigger and has the quick set keys and can split the screen up to 4 ways unlike the 7 that will only go 2.

I have a HDS 10 and HDS 8 with the LSS-1 Structure Scan and I am really happy with the setup. I had the HDS 7 up front for a while and traded up to the 8. Best move lately. The features are the same on the 8 and 10 making it easier to work with and the split screen is a lot better. Been looking at bluegill beds for 2 weeks. The manuals are very weak on info but overall I can get around on it pretty good now. Big learning curve at first but not to bad. I think the Lowrance has a better and brighter screen than the Hummingbird. One thing I don't like is the GPS. I am looking at the 4000 puck. It has 16 channels and I here it is a little more accurate. With everything linked together I can watch the sidescan up front or at the drivers seat and all the waypoints are added on both units. I got almost $5,000 in it so far . Looks good on the new 188vx Ranger .$35,000 for a crappie boat seems crazy but you can't take it with you.

I spoke to the BPS guys in Charlotte/Concord and I was informed that Lowrance used some of the same suppliers that Humminbird uses and because they were so close to the same products (side scan) that Humminbird has filed a law suit and a judge has issued an injunction to stop parts from being delivered to Lowrance. Basically shutting them down. The guys at BPS said that they wouldn't be getting any Lowrance side scan products in for awhile if at all.
