I purchased a used pd. Does it have to be perfectly aligned in the center? I am putting it on a mud boat but I want to spider rig out of it.

You would be hard pressed to find any boat where the T-M is perfectly aligned in the center. My PD55 is off to the right side of center due to the pointed nose on my Horizon 1860. That seems to have zero effect on operation.
