    Default transducer ?

Will sonar work through an aluminum boat? I know it will on glass or plastic. I have an old Fishing Buddy that works fine, but if I forget to take it out of the mount, it hits the bottom when I beach my 10' jon boat. I also must remember to lift the motor. The easiest thing would be to get a new sonar and put the transducer on the inside of the hull.

Not well. There are some special transducers, but they are compatible with only some units. Your best option is to leave the transducer loose in its bracket so it will kick up when you ground it.

So a search for AlumaDucer. Don't know mush about them except that they are suppose to work shooting thru an aluminum hull. I think Cabela's carries it.
