    Default clips for trolling motor

Anyone connect their trolling motor to the battery using spring clips or alligator clamps? I was thinking of trying that for speedy connection. Any thoughts?

Poor performance. Use ring terminals and tighten the nuts with a wrench.

I agree with CatFan on this. I use rings and tighten down with wing nuts. Takes a few seconds longer than aligator clips/spring clips, but much more surface area to conduct electricity. If you run at high speeds with your TM a lot, places where the electricity connection can bottleneck can get warm/hot.

Even the HD ones loose their spring after a while and do not make a good connection. Loose connections = resistance = higher amperage = less trolling time.

Get you some plugs that are used for the trolling motor and attach a male end to each battery and a female to the trolling motor wires and then you can use the wing nut attachment and tighten the heck outta them. This way you have the batteries on their own connection. I've used it for years.
If you use clips they will get hot and maybe even burn.
