thanks for the help everybody. just ordered turn-key 4ga tinned cables and jumpers from bogieman's link. fyi the 4ga is $1.20 something a foot. i'll report back when i get 'em next week. told him i'd advertise the quality of the transaction one way or the other.
got my cables today. i'm pretty impressed. a knowledgable guy on the phone, quick turnaround, the cable ends were very inexpensive, had shrink wrap red/black. i also ask for a 3" sample wire so i could see what's underneath. i'd recommend them. thanks for the link bogieman

I wanted to give this company another positive post as well - after reading this thread this week I decided to give them a try. You can use any wire you want. A lot of people use regular wire and have no problem, But the correct and proper wire is marine tinned.
