Default MK PD2 55# Batt rating

Can anyone tell me what the minimum amp hour rating this TM needs?
I checked MK website looking for the manual, but cannot find it.
    I bought this TM used.

    Currently I am using a 105.
With this 105 this new 55# is SLOW! on max Speed I have to look at the bank to see if I am moving! max speed is probly slower than speed one on my 30!

My 30# endura will run circles around this PD2 55!

i have the same trolling motor and it does feel like your barley moving but if you have a gps it will tell you if it's you thats being tricked or if its just the trolling motor it self, I swear my 46lbs foot control on rabbit was faster than this pd 55 but i do get over 2mph on the gps with the pd55

quote "For best results, use a deep cycle minnkota marine attery with at least 100 ampere hour rating." straight from my book. I have a 17" tracker and it works fine for me. Your fighting the wind or something. that or your anchore is down. haha.

I have a heavy and wide 17 footer. My PD55 will pull my boat 2 MPH on flat water and no wind. Ir will leave a wake, so there's no doubt you are moving. LOL! Ya either got a dud motor or a dud battery.

My PD55 will pull my 1860 Horizon over 2 mph at high speed.

Battery sounds like it's large enough. Remember that a 30# needs less current than a 55# motor. Could be many things. Bad motor/controller. Bad battery. Bad connection. Wire too small.

Try running it on the trailer and test the torque by hand with a good heavy towel or rag on the prop. Can you hold it easily? (don't hold it long-motor will heat up fast) Then test the voltage at the motor terminals inside the head when loaded. (on the water at max speed or holding it on the trailer) Voltage drop to some low value? What didja' find? Voltage drops can be hard to find if the battery is good. Suspect connections first. You just gotta' hunt and peck. You'll find it.

I'm going to beef up my connections and replace my fuse for a breaker.

One thing That did happend that has me confused is....

I temp mounted the TM on a table to test it. all was working as it should. So I install it on my boat, all is working as it should.

Get to the lake, launch and drop in the TM. It will turn but I have no propulsion... Checked all connections, gave the motor a lil love tap with my hand, nuthing. no work.

Figure either got water in pedal or into motor. During testing ON water when it was not working. my batt voltage dropped from 12.7 to 9.6 volts in less than 45 seconds! my batt started bubbling and getting hot.. So I unhooked the TM and went about my day of fishing after changing out my battery with a spare in my truck.

get mad fire up gas rig. motor to brush pile. get blown off by wind, figure lets try TM againafter a hour on water fishing. Whoaa! it works! drop it in and it runs all day. just slow as dirt.

Found a MK repair shop here local, going to take it in and have it maintenanced.

Whats avarage cost of a complete top to bottom for TM's?

sounds like you have a leak in the TM somewhere.... and it's creating a short that's killing the battery quick....

I'd have a tech check out the motor dry, and then wet to be sure.
