Default need help with my humminbird 565

i put this unit on right at a year ago it done fine all summer, the first time out it done fine for about 20 min. then i notice something was wrong. it would not show the bottom, no structure, and no fish. themp and depth seem to work. i have a matrix unit at console so i took 565 screen off and plugged it into the matrix and it worked fine. then i called humminbird and told them what was going on. tey said transducer, so i recieved another transducer from them fridaynight at 8:30 p.m.,,mounted it to trolling motor and went fishing sat. and the same thing even the matrix unit will not work right. at one point and time it showed i was in 539ft. of water when i was only in about 20ft. any help from this site would be really appreciated..thanks

Sometimes I try to make it look like I'm cleaning mine, when I'm actually just pecking on it some. I think that helps.

Is it acting up while running the trolling motor, or all the time? Sometimes interference from the trolling motor will cause wacky readings. If your F/F is run off the same battery as the trolling motor, I'd clean all connections for the trolling motor and F/F. Paying attention particularly to the grounds. If it worked fine before, it could be just corrosion at a connection. Another point is that electronic manufacturers like the units wired directly to the battery with a fuse. Not tied into the dashboard or other switch panels.

hey shellback, thanks for the reply. i checked which battery my f/f is hooked up to, its on the cranking battery, in the front of my boat i remove a cover and that's were it hooks up, there is a small square piece with flatt terminals plug in one hot and one ground. i talked with humminbird again today and they are sending me another transducer to try.
