Question Terrova vs Power Drive V2

From reading these threads it looks like everyone is pleased with their Terrova but I haven't heard much about the Powerdrive V2. I am trying to decide between the two and was wondering what the main difference is between the two. Both are I-pilot compatible and both are available with Auto Pilot as well as Universal Sonar. Both come with an 18' cord and you can get a wireless foot pedal for the Powerdrive. You may be able to get it for the Terrova also although I'm not sure. The Terrova has a $100.00 factory rebate and the Powerdrive has a mail in coupon for the Co-pilot for $9.99. Is the Terrova really worth the price difference? I am looking for a good trolling motor for my pontoon boat, both to troll with but also to fish as close as possible to bank brush. I went to Bass Pro over the weekend and they tried to talk me into a Motorguide wireless but I have had some previous experience with Motorguide that wasn't very good. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

The folks at Minn Kota told me the Terrova has all the bells and whistles and the PD has just the basics. Key differences (from memory): T has a cutoff switch that cuts the motor off when it's folded up, PD doesn't. If you buy with the I-pilot T comes with foot pedal PD doesn't.

Call them at their 800 number - they're real helpful. I got if off the website. They'll also email you owner's manuals you can read before you buy. Go to the 'contact us" link and type in your request. You'll get it within a couple hours if it's during the day.

Try Anchor Express on line. I got a tip about prices on crappie.com that proved to be right on. I just bought a PD70 54" with I-pilot for $887. Tried it out this weekend and loved it. It doesn't have the built in transducer but I decided I could live without that. Cabelas had the next best prices from what I could find.

    Hope this helps. Good luck.

I got the terrova 60" 24 volt I-pilot with built in transducer for my deck boat. Got mine from cabelas on line took less than a week to get it . I couldn't be more pleased with it . I learned how to use it in one weekend. Like having a chauffeur in the boat with me .Hands down the best thing I have ever bought for my boat.... jim

I have owned 2 Power Drives and I am 100% satisfied...I have never owned or operated a Terrova, but I have been in a few boats that have the Terrova. I am not so sure it is worth the difference in price, but either way you cant go wrong. I bought my V2 PD 70# Thrust with AP and a 54" shaft thru J and H about 8 months ago for $830...Whether you go with PD or Terrova, I think you'll be happier with the 24V over the 12V...Just my opinion.

    Why 24 over 12? Thanks.

Longer trolling time is the biggest advantage plus more power if you should ever need it.

^^^^^What he said^^^^^... But when I had a 12V I used 2 batteries wired together and never had any issues with a battery going dead on me.

If you want to lengthen your run time on 12V, you can still use two batteries. Just run them in parallel rather than in series. It should double your run time, in theory.

one plus with the terrova, you still have the capability to use the foot controll if you want with the I-piloit, it your lake or lakes you fish has lots of trees, stumps it may be a plus to have the terrova.

I have both of them, one is on one boat and the other is on another boat, and I far prefer the Terrova for whatever that is worth.
