I just bought a Minn Kota Powerdrive 55 V2 with autopilot on eBay and received it today. The motor is in very good condition and I'm happy with the purchase EXCEPT; it was advertised with a 48 inch shaft and actually has a 54 inch shaft. My previous motor was a Maxxum with a 42 inch shaft. I'm figuring on running it for a bit but will probably be unhappy with it sticking up almost to the level of my spider rig pole holders when in shallow water. I don't figure cutting the composite shaft down will be rocket science but I'm open to any advice or tips. Can a pipe cutter be used rather than a hacksaw or dremel? I did a search and didn't find anything. THANKS!!
