Mounting a MK PD on Tracker TX17
Well I finally made the decision to purchase a MK power drive - Got a great deal from Cabela's through a series of Promotions, discounts, and Cabela's points:
$529 Minn Kota PowerDrive 55/48"
$-75 Cabela's Discount counpon for a purchase over $500
$-73 Cabela's points from my Visa Card
$381 Base Price
$ 0 Free shipping
$9.99 MinnKota Promotion - FREE CO PILOT unit with $9.99 shipping
Oh and they also sent me a free $25 gift card for Cabelas with the purchase
So a grand total of $391 for new PD with Co-pilot shipped to my door !!!! Pretty awsome price if you ask me.
Enough Gloating
Now to my question - I have a Tracker TX17 with a 55lb Maxxum that is mounted to the left of center on the bow of the boat - The instructions with the PD indicate you need to mount it in the center of the bow. My question is has anyone mounted it off center and if so can you let me know if that is not a good idea. I would prefer to not mount in the center as my running light mount is in line with the center of the bow and I would have to move that and leave its hole behind!!!! If possible can you upload any picture you may have of the power drive mounted on a TX17.
Thanks for the advise in advance.

mine is at a angle but when the motor is deployed its in the center hope this helps

I think they mean that when it is deployed it should be as close to center as possible. Mine is mounted on the left but it deploys to the center. Good luck. Mkae sure you have 6 gauge wire with a 50 amp fuse or breaker with the Powerdrive. I am sure that is what Minn Kota recommemds.

Thanks for the heads up - do you happen to know if the standard wire that is run to the bow on a tracker is 6 gauge???
Also would you recommend the 60amp breaker from Minn Kota? Seems expensive to me.
Thanks
