This one will work fine for speed if you can find one. Water proof and floats too. May have to upgrade the software.

I just bought a Minn Kota Powerdrive autopilot/co-pilot trolling motor and have heard that a portable gps can be used to gauge speed while trolling. I have a Lowrance console gps unit but don't want to have to change the mount then turn around to see it. Buying new gps for the front or the i-pilot is out of the question right now. Can somebody recommend an inexpensive hand-held gps that will serve my purpose? Thanks.

I have been using a Lowrance I finder H2O for this purpose the last 2 years and it
has worked great. Be sure to get the B&W unit as the color one will not read below

What Lowerider says is right on money. plus it has a bigger screen. We probably have 25 of those H20 units around in this area.
