Default Whats the best way to mount a transducer on a Pelican 2 man boat?

Hey everyone. We just picked up a new Pelican Bass Raider 10E (wired) 2 man boat and wondering if anyone has and ideas for mounting a transducer on one of these boats?

We may have to run the trolling motor in the back fulltime so we might be able to mount the display up front and be able to plug it into the existing wiring.

The only thing we are not sure about is how to mount the transducer. I don't really want to mount it on the trolling motor as it will be coming off the boat every trip.

    Any ideas?

    Default Mounting Transducer

I had a similar style boat. I screwed into the plastic hull and mounted as any other because I trailered mine. No issues, never had them pull out. However, you could mount the transducer to a board and clamp on when you get situated. I have also seen some people use the shaft and bracket from a broken trolling motor to mount it on.

I took a junk transom mount trolling motor, took the control head off the top, and the motor off the bottom. Mounted the transducer to the bottom end of the fiberglass shaft (nuts, bolts and zip ties), and ran the transducer cable up and out the top of the shaft. The mount clamps on just like a trolling motor. Whichever end of the Pelican you mount your trolling motor on, clamp the transducer mount on the other end. Works well. Also allows you to adjust the depth of the transducer, and even tilt it up out of the water, if needed.

Get a 1"x2" board, cut it 4"'s long. sand it smooth with 60grit.
    Seal it with waterproof whatever.
Find a flat location on your hull where you want to mount the transducer.
Use 5200 marine adhesive and glue the board to your hull. use duct tape to hold it in place for 24hours.

Mount your transducer bracket to this board with correct length screws so that they will not peirce your hull.

All done and it work and looks good. best part is, if you hit something with teh transducer, the board will pop off instead of breaking that expensive transducer.

Search Bass pro/Cabelas they carry a plastic board just for this application. Works great or search for transducer holders that clamp on back with one c-clamp good to 35 mph.

i'm with windjinx as i have a pelican 10e boat great little jewel aren't they nice and light i can load unload my self and stand on the side if i want very stable .

i used a regular transom mount and mounted mine alomost halfway up the back of the right pontoon just as a normal install then run the wire along the rubber edgeing on the side to the middle of the boat and mounted my finder base there . that way both could see it when we wanted to look .
hope this helps there are alot of options but the thing i thought was there is alot of things to put on and take off everytime you used it and the finder was something i used everytime so i made it a pemenate fixture .

    thanks,
