I think the SpotLock will do OK in an open water situation if your trying to stay in a general area. I tried it in a creek yesterday that is about 30 yds. wide and it really did horrible. Being in a real close area really let's you see exactly how much it is keeping you on the "spot". I would notice that it would let me drift 10 yds. or more before it would "TRY" to correct. By the way, there was ZERO current in the creek and a light 5 mph wind.

I'm also dissapointed with the spot lock feature.Used it yesterday in winds from 5-10 with an occasional gust and it was all over the place.Once it got so far from the original spot the spot lock just shut off and I had to attempt to get control of the boat before it blew into a dock I was fishn(didn't make it) I know not to trust it in that situation anymore.5 foot circle not even close.

The spot lock and cruise control both have worked well for me. My first trial run, I set it close to the bank at an area we fish alot during the spawn and it held really well. I've also used it I got hung up spider rigging. It has held me right in place giving me time to get unhung without stressing the poles. I've also set up on structure in the middle of the lake and it has held good. The cruise control has mainted within 1/10th of a mph everytime I've used it. The only complaint I have is on the remote. I am missing a couple of pixels on the memory location indicator.
