Hi,
Did you turn on the System Status "Accessory Test" screen w/ the unit mounted on the boat? There you will see all the devices supported by the unit’s level of software, physically connected to the head, and their status. There you will see Temperature (and Aux. Temperature - if you have a paddle wheel (W/ Temp)) status. If the status is "UNCONNECTED", the unit "believes" the device is not present - and therefore cannot be selected (or displayed) as an option. The reason's for "UNCONNECTED" could be bad sensor, bad cabling, or??? If you see that Temperature is not an "Accessory Test" option --- call Humminbird.
See my earlier post for how to get the "Accessory Status" screen.
Take care,
Roger
Try testing your unit on another Humminbird transducer that has the built-in temperature sensor to see if you get the option than. This does not have to be another 797 unit and could be the transducer that you are using with your 787 unit.
Does your 787 show a temperature readout when used on the 797’s transducer?
my 787 did that once and the transducer was bad
Yep, that is what I am thinking now after doing what HBGreg suggested. It works fine on my 787 mount and my 787 acts up when I plug it into my 797 base. AMAZING, a transducer goes bad just out of the blue. I am growing So tiredof the trouble. Upgrade to fix an Upgrade. I just want my stuff to work!!!!! By the way Greg I spent almost 30 min. on the phone with your customer service yesterday trying to trouble shoot my problem before I was asked my phone number and email address so that the problem could be researched further. I was promised a response yesterday. Guess what? STILL WAITING!! I am not trying to take out anything on you personally, but other than the slow GPS response my 797 worked great up until the UPGRADE. It's just very frustrating. Thanks for your help, I really do thank you.
