SwitchFire??

If your fishing roughly deeper than 20ft turn your switchfire to max. Anything less turn it to clear. When you turn it to max you will have alot of returns. Use your sensitivity to clear up the picture some. Not to the point that you lose all of your returns tho. Hope this helps ;)

What is all the extra returns showing us, leafs in the water, small trash, what? I like seeing the extra stuff but I would like to know what I'm seeing. The write up said it would show plankton and all?? What is it changing sensitivity ??

Got some plankton in my drawyers one time. Felt like jello.:D

Probably all of the above ie plankton, trash, interference etc etc. sensitivity will reduce all of these smaller returns and make the bigger returns stand out more..

Using the SwitchFire feature in 15 feet or less of water you will need to run the Clear Mode. In 16 feet or deeper you should run the Max Mode.

Hey Joby...could you explain the "theory of thought" behind your statement above....??

I run in Max Mode in 8-30 ft with the sensitivity turned down and I can get great 2d sonar returns of brush...which is exactly what I'm looking for.....

Not Joby but...

Changing the settings in the SwitchFire turn on and off additional programming that help filter some of the returned signal strength from sonar returns that are close to the transducer. It turns on and off something call time variable gain (or “TVG” the original name of this menu) which is used to try and represent the same sized sonar return for targets that are close to the transducer as would be used for the same target if it were farther away from the transducer.

The water conditions (and some menu settings) you are in will determine how shallow you can use the SwitchFire menu in the “Max Mode” versus the “Clear Mode”. If the unit will correctly track the bottom when in 2 feet of water when set to the Max Mode setting than so be it. If the unit starts having problems correctly tracking the bottom when in less than 20 feet of water when set to the Max Mode than switch it over to the Clear Mode setting.

I got my update today and I can't wait to try it out.
