Question Dual beam versus Dual beam Plus

I have a V2 motor with Universal sonar, will either type of fish finder work with it ??? Minn Kota says a Dual beam plus but will a regular dual beam work ???

To answer your question yes it will. The diffrence between the two is in the unit. Dual Beam will not allow you to the beam 200/80khz. Dual Beam Plus will allow you to select which beam you want to use.

Question Dual Beam versus Dual Beam Plus

Is there an advantage to being able to select between the 2 beams ?????

    I think so.

With a DualBeam unit the only information from the wider 83kHz sonar beam that gets shown are the Fish ID Symbols.

With a DualBeam Plus unit you can show all of the sonar returns from the 83kHz sonar data by itself or beside the 200kHz sonar data or combined with the 200kHz sonar data (with or without the Fish ID Symbols). You have more control to show what is below the transducer and outwards from it as well (the 83kHz beam is approximately 1 foot wide for every foot of vertical depth versus only about 0.35 feet wide with the 200kHz sonar beam).

I recently bought a Terrova that has universal sonar. How can you tell whether it has dual beam or dual beam plus? I don't remember what came on it as I was going to get a fish finder later.

The “Plus” part is not in the transducer itself but in the unit you use with it. If that is a US2 (not the original US) than if you connect a DualBeam Plus unit to it all should work well.

Thumbs up Dual Beam versus Dual Beam Plus

Thanks for the info. I was thinking that by using both at the same time was going to be way better. This will help me decide on the type of fish finder I want. Thanks again.
