    Default Electric anchors


    Whats everybody thoughts on electric anchors?? Thinking about purchising one or two for the boat.

    They are OK I don't use it as much as I figured I would. If you get some take off about 25 to 30 ft of the rope it helps when bringing in the anchor.
    Here's a pic of mine. I have two but I have not found room up front on this new boat.

    They are nice for not having to deal with wet rope during the winter. The only really bad thing is they do not free spool when lowering the anchor. It has to be powered down with the motor which can let you drift off the spot you were trying to anchor over. I was thinking about taking my anchor off and attaching my logging chain for drifting.

    I have one on the front of my boat...been using it about 4 years now and I like it. I want to get another one for the back someday.

    Mine is about the same sound as the till/trim motor. Not real loud.

    Thanks for the reply. I may look into getting 2 of them then. Tilt/Trim noise is not that bad. But if it sounded like a winch, I don't want that.
