Default Help !! I want to get navionics card for my 587ci

but I dont know which one I should get, the gold hotmaps or the premium hotmaps, I have tried to find the difference of the 2 but not much luck. can anyone advise me the major differences ? I have managed to read and find out the gold are 2d and not 3d but I dont find anything about the depth increments that are marked or if the premium is 3d or not. sorry for all the questions but just really dont know which one would be the better of the 2

    thanks

In my opinion I would think you will want the Premium HotMaps

I copied this off of the Navionics website.

    HotMaps® Premium

More than 17,000 total lake maps with complete fishing information for your GPS, plus over 1,000 high-definition lake maps featuring exclusive 1' contours from Navionics own on-the-water surveys.

    Choose from 5 huge regions
throughout the US and Canada on a media card compatible with your chartplotter.
CF and MicroSD media cards are pre-programmed and ready to use with today's leading chartplotters… just plug-and-play

The Gold Maps are more for offshore.

Thanks Joby, I had found that but I still cant find if either one of these are 3d, which after more reading I now believe it is only the platinum with 3d. Thanks for taking time to answer

I've heard the Platinum reals puts a strain on the processor causing some slow functionality...

Yep, platinum is the only 3d. I have the Premium and have been impressed the one chance I've had to get out with it.

Wannabe, thanks for the info, now I have another question for you, since you have the premium maybe you can enlighten me on this, I have found the premium maps for 2007,2008,2009 & 2010. 9 and 10 maps cost about the same but I think I remember either the 2007 or 2008 was like 99.00. thats not a lot of difference but if I save 50 bux then I can spend it on other fishing stuff :D but would like the most detail if possible

    thanks again for the help

    Maachuu,
Just about every year Navionics adds more HD lakes to their Premium map cards. What I would advise doing is checking the lakes you want in HD against a list of lakes for each year model of Premium map cards from Navionics. It may be that: all the lakes you want in HD are only available on the latest cards, may have been on there since 2006, or are all on one of the map cards in between.

Yep, what Greg (the whoopable one) said.

For MS, I think all the 4 COEs are HD in 08 except Enid. Not sure about 09. Weird, but the only time I've been out with it on Sardis, and HD lake, I kind of think there is too much data displayed. Screen get's cluttered pretty quick with a 5" finder. I wouldn't sweat the year or the HD non HD issue and just find a reasonably priced older card and go for it.

All I want from a chip is to show me the channels, drops and humps, roads and ditches. I really don't need to know that it's 1' deeper 3.5" to the left. I can use my FF for that.
