Yep to transfer waypoints to a PC mapping program you will need a card reader. Are you wanting to look at your maps on your computer or just manage/save your waypoints?

I am buying the Lowrance H20. I have the Hot Spots card for this unit. Someone said I need a card reader to transfer coordinates to a mapping program. Do I? Which Maps program do I need to have maps on my computer. Where can I find the above items at the best price. I am getting the b&w unit so speeds will register under 1MPH.

With the newer computer (most) you have a built in card reader. My mapping question has been resolved. A good old East Tennessee feller (Really a Kentuckian) answered all my questions....so I am good now. Thanx
With the H2O you have to use their card reader which allows you to copy to only 5 cards and then you're locked out. Going through the service dept. they will allow you to add another card if you have trouble I believe. I use Map Create 7 and love it. Then maybe its just with Map Create 7 that needs the special reader and only 5 cards. Its been a while since I loaded mine and have not had any reason to use more than 1 card.
