DI will use the same frequency that you select for SI in the sonar menu settings.

These shots were taken with the 455KHZ selected. You have to change this selection in the Sonar menu section. It does not change automatically. I only run the 800KHZ in shallow water.

SO I should stay with the 455 when sidescanning and down imaging.
What does everyone use while running the lake and just the regular depth finder mode

I lose signal at about 10 MPH.. Most of the time if I'm running hard, I have the map up going to my next waypoint.. but that's just me.. Curious as what others do too.

It's all about transducer placement. Here's a screen capture from one of this week's trips. Almost 42 mph, and still a very usable SI and DI signal. The 2D is the worst of the bunch, but still readable at this speed.

Here's another showing a nice pod of suspended fish extending out to both sides of the boat.

I have a 797 that I am putting the DI update on - will mine show the three screen shots like this?

I'm not sure as I haven't seen a 797/8 in action with DI.

I suspect, however, that chopping that 5" screen into 3 pieces would result in some pretty tiny images!
