Default SI transducer cable repair....yes you can!

Been working on a broken transducer cable. If you can solder, use a meter, and follow directions, you can repair these cables. I know hows. This took me a couple hours. I am slow as you all know.

I will not post the details here, but if you need any help, pm me. Don't wanna run my post count up too high.

I am not scared of my own work.... I hooked it to my unit.

Sonar is working and temp is working. Easy to tell this as it appears in status window. Sonar is working as the unit did not go into simulator and I hear the transducer ticking. I will have to go to lake and verify SI function.

what lead to the breakage? Is is something we all should look out for?

    Chuck

PS - We are sending the cold weather back north this Friday. Saw some posts of Moors and Big Bear. Looked like you could of stood on the dock, augered a hole and ice fished.:D:D

Not really equipped for ice fishing as this only happens every decade or so.

Good to know there CP. I'd been wondering if that cable was shielded. I have plans to run mine parallel with the TM shaft and was concerned about noise from the motor leads. Thanks

Try to stay away from running parallel to your power cable. All this shielding won't protect against impulse noise from the TM.

Running the cable thru the slinky cord is not parallel to the power. Basically, cabling thru the slinky will allow the cable to intersect at right angles, which is acceptable if my memory serves me correctly. You can look it up though.

Wellll thar' CP .... I don't really like being parallel to that sawtooth DC sine wave either but the trolling motor manufacturers do just that with the built in transducers they sell us. About the only thing I can see they do different is a good shield around the transducer wire. I may have to run a filter in the S/W on the sonar head also but I'm probably gonna experiment with it. Otherwise, I may have to get entirely away from the TM with the xducer like you did on one of your pics I saw on here. The practice of just letting the cable hang wild and free around that TM ain't working out for me!

CP, I have the giant trolling motor SI transducer that has a couple clipped wires that I want to send you. Don't need it back so you can do whatever you want with it once fixed. Just PM me your address and I'll mail it off.

    Thanks

I will take it. I will repair it if I can. Someone may need it sooner or later. I don't charge to give stuff away. FREE plus shipping and handling.

    Thanks very much,
