    Default rnvinc a qestion for you

    Between you and a buddy who fished pro, I've about decided on the 1197. The question is, are you mounting yours on the console? If so what are you going to use up front? Did I read correctly somewhere that you can get a 13" monitor for the front & use a seperate ducer on the TM and a swicher cable? Any help is appreciated.

    My decision on the 1197 up front was based mostly on the fact that I spider rig 95% of the time....

    I generally drive to the exact bay that I plan to fish based on wind direction...

    Hec..there's time spans I may go 3 or 4 fishin trips without even startin my big motor.....

    Therefore a SI on the console would be a waste of money for me....( as a matter of fact, I still use an Eagle Magna II on the console..which should tell you how little I actually use the DF on the console...and only use it for depth readings)...

    Cane Pole can tell you more about using a monitor up front...cabled into your console mounted SI through a switch or Interlink...

    From what I can garner...
    1. Monitors that you can connect to the video-out of the 1197 are not waterproof...
    2. Laptops have no video-in port to connect to the video-out of the 1197..to use the laptop as a monitor...
    3. Some guys that run a 2 unit system are using a SI unit on the console Interlinked to a NON-SI unit on the front (such as a 1157...I think)

    The first advise I would give you is to decide where you are most likely to use the SI feature of the unit and mount it accordingly.....(console or bow)..

    Then, Interlink that SI unit to a less-expensive DF that can share waypoints and such.....

    And 1 more piece of advise...check personally with your retailer of choice to see if he will give you the serial number on the unit you are getting ready to buy...

    The serial number will tell you when that exact unit was built...which will tell you exactlly what should be preloaded into that exact unit....

    PM me if you need specific details of my dealing with J & H Products on the purchase of my 2010 model 1197c SI....

    Sorry...I must have posted that in another thread or another SI forum...

    The serial number on my unit is 09100802 0085....

    09 = year 2009
    10 = month Oct.
    08 = day
    02 = production line
    0085 = unit built that day

    Software version is 4.700 preloaded

    I hope Greg or Joby will verify this...but from this information I believe my unit is, indeed, classified as 2010 model......

    Rechecked my serial number again...it is 9100102 0085...(no 0 in front and the day is 01)

    Info above still pertains tho....unit was built on 10-01-09, production line 02. 0085th unit built that day....
