Well, the biggest problem I have heard with this scenareo is that most monitors are not waterproof....
I followed a thread in the Yahoo Si Groups to a website that sells such an item.......
15Ħħ LCD Splash Proof Monitor with TV Tuner
Now, be aware that I have not tried one of monitors myself...but someone on the Yahoo SI Groups Forum has....and he said its works.....
They also sell a 10.4 in model.....
10.4 LCD Splash Proof Monitor with TV Tuner
Both units are made by Pyle and I understand that they are 1 of the leading manufacturers of marine grade electronics......
These units are not bright daylight viewable. You would have to stick your head in a shade box to see the screen in bright daylight.
Goooooogle up daylight readable marine monitor. Prices will make your poop shoot draw up. Price is why I don't have one yet.
