Lowerance HDS ?

Are you sure you can add Structure Scan to an HD-5? In the Cabelas catalog it shows you can add it to an HD-7 and up, but doesn't show it for an HD-5. You also need an HD-8 to take advantage of all the screens.

anybody looking into new purchases owes it to themselve to look up some screen shots from the new lowrance side scan and down view. WOW! lowrance has beat humminbird if they last without problems. can't buy their sidescan along with a unit as cheap, but the view is BETTER.

cheapest way to the package in lowrance is hds5 $650 + sidescan$550 for a total of $1200. lots 'o money but state of the art.

The HDS-5 has and will accept all the features. The HDS-5x & 5m will not. HDS-5, has all the screens but, like the HDS-7, you can't display them all at once unless you have a HDS-8 or HDS-10. <*)}}}><

Crappie Chat is right, the HDS 5 can and will display the SS. I'm not sure how it works on the 5X & 5m. I was under the impression that you have to have a combo unit for it to work correctly on the 5x & 5m. Not 100% as i don't have those units. For 3 & 4 way split screens you need the 8 or 10.
