You won't have enough power I don't believe. The best hookup is directly to the battery or fuse block with an inline fuse.

GPS and DFs draw very little current so that will work just fine. You will just have to turn your light switch on for it to work.

The best way is direct to the battery with an inline fuse. A main power buss is the next best place. D/F are voltage sensitive, and a low voltage will shut them off. See the post on the fellow that had his Humminbird shutting down. Keep in mind that low voltage and shut downs are hard on the electronics. They ain't cheap so spend a little extra and power them right. IBNFSHN is correct in that they draw very little current, but you still need proper voltage.
You will be better off running a dedicated circuit from battery for depthfinders only. Put a fuse in hot wire close to battery. Make sure you use wire long enough to reach front of boat-no splices. A little more work but worth it in the long run.
Yep Pull A Dedicated Wire For It And When You Do Pull A Extra Set Of Wires For Next Time You Need It.

Every boat that I have ever had I wired my front fish finder into the back side of the trolling motor receptical....never had a problem, works great and no interferance. I also have a electric anchor winch wired in there also.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.
