Will the US-2 tranducer that is in the new Minnkotas work with the 997. It says its compatable with Humminbirds. If it will work for traditional sonar, will it work with the new down immage sonar update. thanks. jm

The US-2 transducer will work as a DualBeam transducer with the 997 unit but it will not allow you to use the new Down Imaging sonar that will be coming out after the first of the year. Don’t know all the details but the Down Imaging sonar will be coming from our Si sonar beams – we don’t need an additional element to do this like other companies as our Si beams appear to be much wider side-to-side.
