Ouestions about Lowrance 520c???

I am looking at putting 2 of these units on my boat. I am planning on putting one on the bow and one in the dash at the console and networing them together with the external antenna mounted at the bow. Does anyone else have this set up? If so have you ran into any problems? Any problems with these units. I was also wondering if both units would run fine off one antenna or if I would need to install 2. Thanks for all of your help...See Ya' on the Water!

I don't have 2 520's but had a 27C & 25C on a network. Never had any problems as now i sold the 25C and replaced it with a HDS 7. It was pretty much plug and play with the network. I also had one antenna share on the network and it worked fine. There are two ways to getting power to the network, via the power cable on one of the units or a power node on the network. The best way is the power node. Also just make sure that power node is connected thru some type of on/off switch, if not the network will stay powered up. Example, if you have some empty slots on your fuse box you can connect it there and assuming your main power switch cuts everything off.

I have been very pleased with my 522. Mine is mounted at the console and I am thinking of adding another one up front. Do you know if I need to run a seperate power cable for the front one or can I connect it to the one on the console? I am putting a transducer on my trolling motor.

I'm running dual 520c's, one on the bow and one at the console and sharing an antenna. Thru the hull transducer for the console, TM transducer for the bow unit. Powering the antenna through the console unit. Like was said eariler, it's pretty much plug and play. The only problem I have had was a batch of defective LGC3000 GPS modules. I went through five in a season and a half. It got so bad I started carrying TWO spare GPS modules. I replaced the last one before I went out this spring and it is still running fine after a full season.

I may power the network buss to power the GPS Module separate, but as long as it's not going through GPS modules like butter any longer, I hesitate changing anything.

Wit the proper software updates you can save a waypoint on one uint and it shows on the other unit. That is a nice feature. I run Navionics Hotmaps Premium SD chips in my units (have to have one for each unit, can not share a chip) and love the detail, although I've found a few errors.

I guess you could connect onto the existing power cable but then it may draw to much juice and trip the fuse. I would say it would be better off having it's own power supply. If you have a fuse box see if there is an empty plug in and use it.
