    Default Long Line Trolling

I have a question on long line trolling? My fishing partner likes to use 1/32 oz. jig heads and lets a lot of line out and does well. I use heavier jigs from the front of the boat to avoid tangles. How deep will his jig run with about 100 ft of line out? I usually try to run about 1 mph with front mount trolling motor. Thanks for any information. Fishinfred

Got a LOT to do with what kind of 32nd you use....I've fished some that weighed 17 grains and some that weighed 27 grains....big difference in where those two 32nds will run.....as a general rule with that much line out though I'd say 4 foot maybe....

best way to tell is get over a known depth and try different size heads and speeds
keep getting shallower till the jig starts bumping bottom then record the results and then you will know

Thanks for the replies I was pretty sure that it did not get very deep but it does move it away from the moving boat. I also thing line size can vary the depth it will run. Fishinfred
