Most definitely, You would be hard pressed to find better customer service anywhere.. If you were there in person they will look at it while you wait.. They drop whatever it is they are doing at the time to accommodate your needs..

The customer service is great. Especially the walk in. Cudo's to all the staff in Eufaula.

    Their customer service is great.

they usually have a repair team at most major tournaments.

That are great also if you have trouble they jump right in your boat and start

    trouble shooting .

If you have been in a money tournament and have your unit mess up

then you know how helpless that feels. Sure nice to have people like that

    around to help.

My Hats off to the fine team at Hummingbird !!!!

You gotta be a "tournament dude" to get onboard service.

I invited them down last year for them to "show me". I was gonna provide them with a guided fish trip, room and board, and free beer.

My 797 screen went out in July and I called them yesterday... Bought new in Dec. 07 and warranty ran out Dec. 08... Lady put me on hold a couple of minutes and came back on to say " Sir, we are going to cover that under warranty..." Not braggin yet but will if they get it back to me fairly quickly...

If your 997 does not operate the way it was designed to then I would suggest it be sent to the service department. As far as GPS lag, I would suggest you buy a survey grade gps if you want "cm" accuracy.. However, this will not be your least expensive option.. I have found that taking the most direct path to your target (straight line) combined with the use of your 2D downward looking sonar will indeed help matters in your situation.. Its when I maneuver the boat in a circular path to find the target is when I find that the lag will cause a problem.. Straight paths combined with 2D downward looking sonar and a good marker buoy WILL put you on your target. As with all new technology there will always a bug or two to work out.. With the Humminbird fishing systems I am sure the lag issue is nothing that an additional processor couldn't fix.. Indecently, that means more money and you do get what you pay for as the saying goes.. I agree that $2,000.00 is a chunk of change for a fishing system.. I have yet to see any other company put out a unit comparable in price that has as many features as your 997.. When they do, your argument will hold water.. In the meantime enjoy the fishing system and all it has to offer in a positive light.. Good luck and God bless..
