Default Turn the SI tranducer sideways?

So, what do you all think about turning the HB SI tranducer sideways? I guess it could be set to scan on just one side (the one pointing down of course) to get a better picture of the bottom directly under the boat, as well as a better downward look angle at objects like the Lowrance SI has. It would probably work best with software/script tweaks....

Just thinking out loud....maybe not making sense out loud, though. lol

We may try to mess with this theory this weekend, unless someone has or knows it's been done without success.

Oh, I've been thinkin about that, before but especially after seeing the Lowrance pics...
started thinking through it and did not get much furthur than also thinking
"set to one side". Thinking it might have to be rotated 90 deg. also, "nose" up. Be curious to see what it did.

so try it and see don't think it would hurt anything and you can put it back the way it should be. let us know what you see. seems turned side ways you could see what's ahead of and behind you.

I expect the Lowrance down scan is accomplished by just processing the side scan image, so it may be that H'Bird will enhance their units to do that eventually. Hard to say if that could be done as an update.
