Safety when working with lead
Although we may resist an EPA ban on the use of lead jigs, sinkers, and tackle, the agency offers safety guidance we can all use. Everyone who uses lead tackle items should read this safety guidance--especially those with young children and those who pour their own lead products.

Holy cow, I guess I had better stop chewing on split shot, it is dangerous. I formed a habit of chewing on lead ever since I was hunting with a pellet gun. I liked squeezing the lead pellets down on my canine teeth. Now everything hurts, maybe now I know why. Another habit I need to break. I sure hope they make a pill to get me through it cause I do not want to do it all by myself.

Good info. It helps to review safety guidelines. After pouring a few hundred jigs, you have a tendency to get a little careless. I like to pour outside when it's not too windy but I still worry about the wind swirling and breathing in lead particles.
