Default blood line baits and dipping

Years ago I bought Mr Twister blood line grubs which were core-shot plastics having a dark core surrounded by transparent plastic. I'm not sure they worked better than other solid colors, but they seemed visually appealing to me if not the fish.

As with any lure that's dipped in hot clear plastic, the coating helps emphasize what' beneath or add bulk to a lure. The lures below are dipped except the root beer/chartreuse hybrid. The core color doesn't have to be black as illustrated by the pearl-core grub to the right.

The lures below have been dipped in clear plastic. They are: Sassy Shad, tubes, Fin S (Lunker City), my own grub and worm. Note also that the tails have been removed from the Sassy Shad and Fin S lures. I used a blunt tail grub for the first time last Oct. with great results. I'm thinking the blunt tail lures of different designs will do as well.

Dipping has been my salvation from using mass produced plastic baits with the spoon minnow - a no-mold lure that had caught hundreds of fish. Blood line baits may be something to consider especially if the core is pearl or contains concentrations of glitter. Hmmm - that sounds like a good idea!
