That's a tough question. Everybody shoots and cooks in their own way and each develops a system that works for him. Individuals handling plastics in so many ways involves a ton of variables in answering this. I know what I like after having tried 4 or five different plastics, but that may not hold true for you since we work the plastic differently. Myself I stick with the Do-It plastics, the Crystal Clear soft and the Essential. In my opinion the essential is the most forgiving plastic anywhere on the market. Since I prefer soft formula plastic and the essential is a medium weight product, I cut mine with softener by about 9% and the plastic is simply super.

To be more pointed in answering the question though, you'd need to try the essential product to see if it meets your needs.

If you like the plastic a lot more then the 10 bucks aint much. You kinda have to learn the best way to deal with each brand. When you find one youre satisfied with you can save a little more buying 5 gallons at a time. I havent tried the essential yet but probably will when i get low. I still have 7 or 8 gallons that i got a great deal on. Five gallon buckets for $100 free shipping. I bought 4. At that price brand doesnt matter to me!

Thanks guys, I'll weight out my options 2.5 gals should hold me off for a year. I'm not injecting that much. But the left over plastisol will be re-heated and injected in different shapes of crappie jigs!

I have been trying the essential and it is very forgiving. I had it up to 450 degrees with nothing added and it did not scorch . Even white. I reheated one batch 12 times and it held up fine. It is a little stiffer than most other medium brands that I have tried. The fumes seem a little lighter. I make a lot of 2 color baits without a duel injector so I have a lot of remelts making tails and the essential is very forgiving so far. Like Tom I will need some softner.

I like spike it and also do it both good plastics but do it will take a little bit more extreme heat in less bubbles I don't mind paying more money or something it will work perfect.

Experimenting with temps. Just seeing how far I could push it. I shoot in a very large well vented building with exhaust fans running.

Just got 5 gallons of Essentials yesterday and shot 50+ baits last night and it is great stuff. I have relied on MF Super Soft in the past but with a new mold - Jacobs 2 3/8 Craw - I wanted a little firmer bait. This stuff was easy to use and handled remelting down sprue without much smoke or fumes or bubbles at all.

Spend the little extra it will be worth it in my opinion.
