    Default What Size Microwave

Getting my setup gear together to shoot some plastic and was looking at microwaves. Looked at 700 and 900 watts. Push button door or handle? Some have preset 1 - 6 mins. settings witch I am guessing would be handy. Have some good temp checkers already. Any help would be appreciated. Did not come up on advanced search some I am asking. Thanks!!

Look at thrift stores, yard sales, and flea markets. I got a 700 watt one for just ten dollars. Been working well for three years. The key is to keep an eye on your plastic in the pyrec cup. Start it cooking for two minutes and then check it every 30 seconds. Wear gloves and use a metal stirrer. (I just cut off the end of a coat hanger and put a bend in it for a handle) Use different stirrers for the different colors. When the plastic drips smoothly off the stirrer then it is safe to add your colorant and/or glitter. Use only glitter appproved and safe for bait making. DO NOT USE GLITTER OFF THE SHELF FROM ANY DEPARTMENT STORE. Go and get your supplies from Jannsnetcraft, Tackle underground, Jacobs baits or someplace like that.

I use one with 1000 watts and one that allows me to adjust the cook time and wattage according to my needs. I think I paid just under $100.00 for mine at home depot.

It doesn't seem to matter what size you use the all work quite well I used three different ones and have no problems you'll have to get used to the temperature settings because they are all different depending on the wattage issue may To cook your plastic Little bit longer in some but not much you can go to garage sales and pick him up pretty cheap or your local Goodwill or any place else course you can buy a brand-new one fairly reasonable anymore.

good to see you on here ctom.

"DO NOT USE GLITTER OFF THE SHELF FROM ANY DEPARTMENT STORE"....per Shipahoy

I have several glitters that have come from Hobby Lobby and Micheals and used them quite regular without issues. I also have several hi lite powders from both places too and they work just fine.

Personally, I just do not like the way they perform when you reheat the old plastic. I would rather be safe than be sorry. Just my opinion though. READ THE POST BY JBS on this thread. http://www.crappie.com/crappie/diy-s...do-thread.html

don't get me wrong you should use every caution when shooting plastics by all means you should read that post that ship posted and pay attention to it closely.
