Didn't these methods work? It would be nice to see a video of it being done.

I have been looking for instructions or videos on how to make tube jigs. Evidently I have been looking in all the wrong places. I am hoping all of you will help this old man by posting your video or instructions on this thread. Making two or three at a time is enough for me. I just want to make and fish my own. Thanks. I was thinking of just putting a Phillips screwdriver in the hot plastisol a few times, let it cool, somehow get the plastic tube off and use a razor to make tails. I need your help.

The dipping tubes from Lurecraft are called dropshot tube dipping rods!! Not perfection like Ctom's but good enough for the crappie we catch!!

Mike we been making homemade tubes for many years we simply use nails different sizes to get wet size you would like simply put the nail and hot plastic and put it back in for second color that's all there is to Mike I do not have a video I suppose I'm going to have to get busy and do some video work we have used razor blades to cut the tail. like they said above you can buy rods already made for this I used nails because I can put them into a 2 x 4 12 at a time and put it in my Pyrex cup this way here in mass production can make up the town of these and you will be in business this is how some of the manufacturers do this but perhaps they use a better method nowadays.oh I forgot to mention The end of the nails off![]()

This is what CTom posted on another thread. I will try this. Perhaps I can configure seven nails in a circle so they fit into the pyrex cup and do seven at a time.
Here is his quote: "
I made some mandrils out of stainless rod to dip to make the tubes. A 16 penny nail with the shank polished up a little and the point blunted will work too.
I dip the tail color, then trim off the head portion if I want it a different color. Then the rod gets dipped in the head color. I allow the head dip to "just" contact the tail color and then hold the rod at that point in the hot plastic for about ten seconds and things weld up really nice.
I trim the overall length of the tube, remove it from the rod and use a fly tyer's scissors with a very pointed blade to snip the tentacles.
Try a few. If you mess up just toss the bad cast in your bowl of plastic and re-heat it. These are fun and lengths, colors are as many as your imagination.
The molds (Nails) are cheap anyway....$2.00/pound for 16's? Probably less. Can't beat the price there. By the way, I have a bowl of water right there while I dip these and dunk them right after the tail color. I dunk them again after the head color. Maybe sounds slow doing just 1 at a time but it moves right along this way. "
