Making a new mold

Where abouts are you from in NC? My buddy met some gentlemen at a ramp on LKN a few years ago that did the stinger thing with an old drill bit, and melted old bass worms and whatnot bought on clearance or at flea markets....I'm here to too you those little baits flat out caught fish.

Treedn NC, Iam from Roanoke Rapids, on95, 8 miles from Va line. If you use BGSS you should make this mold, it is easier than you think. I don't buy store bought bait anymore, only fish that bait last year,caught over 5,000 on it, that skinnie tail is a killer when jigging over brush. Shipahoy I seen your baits ,and think you can make mold ,also. just find a piece of scrap or a bracket ,cut in half ,clamp in vise and try it ,nothing is loss then if you mess up

Wow my original post had a lot of typos, sorry.


These fellas were local to the Lake Norman area. Not sure what they used for a mold, but the jigs he got from them were super simple....just a cylendrical shaped body formed with a larger drill bit, and the smaller tail with a smaller drill bit. About 2" total length, 1/2 & 1/2 as far as body length to tail. Simple as pie but they worked like a champ and he said they used melted bass plastics for them that they bought on the cheap here and there. I need to try it and see what happens.

If there is a cheap way to do this, This is about as cheap as You can do it from the sounds of it and make some good baits.CF

I wasnt personally on the recieving end of that give away, as I wasn't fishing with my buddy that day, but I have seen them at the ramp before, and they generally scratch out a limit most days I see them. Some days I do as well, but not as often as them it seems. Never saw a minnow one in their boat. Just those homemade rubber jigs on them. I may try it when I get more time, but until then, I suppose I'll order another bag of BGBS or BGSS. haha my buddy gave me a couple and we hooked, re-hooked, and did everything we could to keep them together and on the hook after they wore out. I'm sure it was a confidence thing after seeing what they had caught, but Ive got several jigs I fish with a lot of confidence, and some days they just didnt have what it took lol
