Got the Green Light - Now Its On

Okay guys the wife has given me the green light to try my hands at pouring plastics. Looking for ideas on the best molds for a newbie. I slow troll and shoot docks mostly. I have been looking at the carrot molds but don't have much experience with those types. Do you guys catch much with that style? I am going to get one maybe two molds and one injector. Not interested in blending blocks or anything like that. Just a basic set up. I have been leaning towards the CC plastics and Jacobs molds. Some things I could use help on are the basic colors to start with, the best glitters, and stuff like that. Also, I think pearls and highlights are awesome but not sure if I should tackle that until I get the basics down. Are they difficult to master? I pour my own jigs so I have the safety equipment but I will read the don't do thread again as you can never stop learning. I am not sure what she is setting me up for but I don't care .

If u troll a lot u might want a grub type mold. So if you were getting 2 molds you could get one curly tail and one stinger tail mold. Pearls and hi-lites are easy to use and I would definitely get some pearl. You will like the CC plastic! As far as colors go just get the colors you mostly use... You will add more later trust me!

I am just starting to inject molds. I started with a grub mold and will get a minnow mold soon.....I hope. That will suffice.

lcokie,I fish the carrot and stinger only,mainly white to off white,caught over 5,000 this year on that style.I cast and shoot docks also good for slow trolling but for longlinning curly tails would be better

5,000 in a year is great! Wish I had time to fish like that. Those are two good soft plastic baits.

Good Luck, I just started too (only done 6 batches) and you will be amazed at how well your first batch comes out. Just make sure you clean a nice big area out in the garage for it. And invest in a few pyrexs if your microwaving your plastics (for two color jigs) or two sauce pans WITHOUT non stick bottom if your using a hotplate like me. What does the nonstick material do to the plastics?

cant see your colors as well while mixing...... but itll work with no problem.
