    Default Cooling Times

I am thinking about starting to pour and all the instructional dvds i watch say let your bait cool but they never say for how long. How long do you guys let your baits cool before doing anything else to them?

it depends on what I'm going to do with the plastic baits after I pull them out of the molds I believe for all general purposes that probably just 24 hours should season them but I usually do not wait like I told you it depends on what I'm going to do like if were going to add a second color we do it right away welcome aboard if you're going to start to make your own plastic baits you come to the right place I'm sure that you will get different replies to your post in they should be all good ones for any other information please let us know or post it here and we will try to answer were speaking for myself but in general you will have quite a few guys with comments to help you.

Welcome from Alabama. I just started making soft plastic baits a few months ago. When I take mine out of the mold I put them in a pan of cool water for about three minutes. After that I put them on aluminum foil and let them sit a day. After that I figure they are ready to fish.

When I do my hot plastics I add worm oil, anise, and garlic salt for scent and soft plastic glitter for attraction and/or to imitate scales.

If your asking about demolding, It depends on whether Your molds are cold or hot. If they are cold, 30 seconds. If they are hot, a couple minutes. Then You can do like Ship suggested and drop into water and then cure or like Snake River said and just sit them out for 24 hours to cure.CF

Absolutely! PP is dead on. Do let water or any water based products touch hot platic unless You like to wear 350 degree hot cheese that don't cool off until its ready to.CF
