    Default Bait Dipping Dudes

When You are dipping Your baits, are You hanging them up on anything as you dip to either speed up the process a little or keep from getting smudges on baits? What do You do after just after You have pulled the bait out of the clear plastic. I have done it once and could only do about a dozen baits before the plastic cooled. Got a hot plate coming now and will keep clear plastic warmer so that part of the problem will be eliminated. The baits I did before were kind of smudgy looking where I laid them down or got my fingerprints engraved in them even though the plastic had cooled. I'm thinking I need a rack or something to hold them until they cure? Your opinions would be appreciated. PM me if You would rather. Thanks. CF

I dip the eyes on some of mine. I hold the ial and dip the bait allowing it to stay over the dish long enough for the first drop to fall, then I tap the very end on the nose of the bait on the rim of dish I am using. They go straight into a water bath from there. From the water after a couple minutes, they get laid out straight on a cookie sheet to cure and allow the water to evaporate. No smudges, no drips.

I have a balled up terry cloth towel that I have a neat little well formed in. When I take the plastic out of the mic, it goes right into that well and stays warm for a long session of dipping. I have an identical dish that I heat water real hot in and place it in the "nest" for ten minutes before putting the plastic in there. The hot water gets rid of any chill or cold spots and serves to pre-heat things nicely.

i do not dip much and have always just held then but it takes forever and can only do a couple at a time so i guess a water bowl might speed it up if i ever dip any more
