    Default batch 3-complete disaster

tried using bears soft plastic, heated til it started turning clear added 9 drops of orange, few drops of lurecraft shad scent and some regular ol walmart craft gliter. stired well texture got right and i injected four molds, waited min and a half and opened the molds, they looked great! but were really soft and kinda sticky... added 1/4teaspoon of hardener and brought back to 350 twice....same results... what did i do wrong?

Make sure you mix it very well before you even pour it in to the cup. The hardener will pack in to the bottom of the bucket. Some brands you may have to take a stick and stir it while scraping the bottom of the bucket to get it mixed well. Hardener can only be mixed from the start. After the plastic is hot it wont mix, it just lays in the bottom and burns

Baitman is right on about mixing hadner at the start (before the first time heating) I put a teaspoon per 6 or 8 oz and have good luck on the firmness of the baits I inject. I also put in heat stabilizer in at the first heating also. (4 or 5 drops)
I started using Caney Creek crystl clear and heat stabilizer and have been very pleased with it. You need to watch what glitter use use because some glitter is metal and can not be used when heating in a microwave. You didn't mention how you are heating it just thought to mention it.

I found that out the hard way Keith. My last two attempts and trying to do a two tone jig on my aluminum mold were disasterous. I was trying heavy aluminum foil as a divider. I am sticking to the one color shoot for now. Good thing I had gloves and eyewear on is all I will say.

One core shot turned out halfway well Bob......but....I was using black Spike-it and probably injected too much because the entire lure darkened. LOL....back to the drawing boards.

keep trying and you will learn it, good luck. Sometimes even when they are poured correctly they will feel a little soft and a little bit sticky like but they will settle.

I just read it. I did not know you could unhinge aluminum molds. I will have to see. You know I am such a clutz and I don't want to mess up the only mold I have. Two tone might just have to wait a while.
