Default Gonna try to make my first mold today

And I need your advice please. Still taking baby steps so keep it simple. I will be hand pouring and not injecting. I saw this article on making a plaster of Paris mold. My question to you is should I attempt to follow it because to me, it looks like a two part mold. Just looking for help and sound advice.

ship, not to discourage you but small baits are very hard to mold and pour. larger worms are much easier to do. when you have a small cavity you are trying to pour the plastic will often cool faster than it will fill the small portions of the bait. I have found that you can spend more money trying to make molds than it cost to buy them if you shop around for used molds. If you do go this route make sure you cure the mold well. if moisture is left in the plaster it will crack when the hot plastic gets in to the mold and heats that moisture fast.cure it in the oven for a few hours at a low temp.you will also need to seal the mold, you can use elsmers glue. water it down it bit and put several coats on it till you get a smooth surface. good luck to take your time.

Thanks Keith. How long should I leave the template bait in the plaster before taking it out? I just put six in a small tin loaded with plaster. I oiled the baits first and sunk them into the plaster. I am thinking when I take the template baits out of the mold to put a tin lid on it and set it in the 83 degree sun today to naturally cure for three hours. Will that work?

you can take the baits out after about an hour, I have had to cure them at 250 for 4 hours and they still have moisture but not enough to harm it.

Let your plaster mold set overnite. Then spray it about 3 or 4 times with a clear laquer. Be sure to spray it each time with pam before a pour. Here are a few that I did

I must have screwed up G. I bought that wall plaster in a tub from Wally World. I took the template baits out but it is still mush. Gonna trash it and get powdered plaster of Paris from Lowes. Will try again on Monday.Still taking baby steps. Appreciate all the help I can get.

65 Pontiac I appreciate the photo. I did my first one in a Christmas tin. It was decorated so I did not bake it in the oven. I will get real plaster of Paris and some small aluminum pans and try again Monday. How far down in the mold do I place the template lure? How deep a pan should I start with? How deep should the plaster be to start and should I do anything else I am not currently trying? Thanks again everyone.

Also do you microwave both colors at the same time so they both will be ready to pour to do the two color lures?
