    Default Keeping plastic hot

I was wondering if there was a product to use to keep your plastic at pouring temp while you are injecting your baits. Something kinda like a hot plate. I swear I saw something similar to it but cannot remember what website I seen it on. Thanks for yalls help.

I know some guys used to keep their plastic hot in a FryDaddy and some had even modded them with a spigot on the front. Not sure if that would do the trick or not. I'm guessing that you're wanting something to keep it hot while it's actually in the injector??

franksbaits on this site uses a griddle of some sort to set his pyrex cups in and it keeps the plastic hot enough that he only has to reheat ever so often. He is pretty good with what he does and he use to have pictures of it that he might be willing to share with you. I know every time I shoot I have to reheat and after a couple times it changes my color.

I use a Prestel pods. only four big batches of plastic . You will need a few things. If you use one of those pots. The pots are available from bears baits.

x2 on bears presto pots. Please save the aggravation of stirring by hand and get the stirring motor also, you will be glad you did.

on the presto pots do you have to use a lot of plastic at a time and will it scortch the plastic? Do you just suck it out of the pot into the injector? The injector I like to use I pour in.

no you do not have to use a lot of plastic. My pots have stirring on them know you have thermostats so you don't have to worry about burning your plastic also I use a electric eye thermometer so you keep it at a constant 360 or whatever temperature that you would want yes you stick the injector into the pot just shut your stirring arm off for a little bit you have a switch in line to do that.

so can you just use like 4 ounces at a time or is that too little of an amount? Also if they have thermostats on the pot, what is the need for thermometer?

4oz is about the minimum amount that you will want to use. You will not burn any plastic with the stirring motor, that's why I said to bite the bullet and order it also. I have let white plastic stir for an hour with no problems. One thing on filling the injector, some of the plastic pours like water and will run out of the injector when you remove it from the pot. It could be dangerous. If you order it from bear (plastic) be sure to ask him about this. You want a thicker pouring plastic something close to MF plastic. One thing you do want is full body armor. Gloves (bear has some great ones) long shirt and some face protection. Melting out at 350* it wont come off until it cools, so keep cool water close to where you are pouring just encase you have a mishap. Trust me, you don't want this stuff on you. Bear has some videos on youtube if you would like to see the pot in operation and how to fill the injectors. You will need some ventilation removing the smoke that you will have due to melting in larger quantities. The presto pots thermostats are pretty close on the temps so just set it at 340 to 350 and you will be good to go.
