    Default Bamboo vs. Lumber Stakes

I was going to make some structure out of 5 gallon buckets, concrete and bamboo. I recently found some scrap stakes that a lumber mill is giving away so I was curious which would be better to use, the bamboo or the stakes? Im assuming the bamboo is the best but if so what is the reason? Also does it matter if the bamboo is green or dried if that is what i decide to use?

I think you can use either one and have good results. If you place either one in areas that have no structure, or enhance some existing structure, most of the time fish will use it for cover. I feel like it is more important to pick a good place to put it than it is to worry about what you use for your structure. If you place it in Lake Guntersville that is full of natural grass, I'm not sure if you will get the same results as if you put it on one of the old TVA lakes with no grass and most of the structure has rotted away.
There is a lot of debate on the green versus not green issue. Again, I wonder if it matters that much. I am convinced if they have no other structure to choose from, they will use a green tree or green bamboo. They sure won't choose the open water.

We mixed wood and bamboo on ours, they have worked so far.I think the bamboo will outlast the wood . However...you could write a book on the stuff I dont know !!

Cover is cover. I think they'll come to whatever you put in. The key I go by is how cheap I can build it. Old pallets work great if weighted down with shoreline rocks onsite.

I believe that location is more important.
