Driving bamboo into lake bed?

I see people talking about driving boo into the lake bed. How do you do this in 18' of water?Is there a certain tool you use?

I have heard about people doing this too, Are you guys drying the Bamboo out then driving in or is it going in green?

You would think it is kind of weak at the top???

That is a neat tool. I don't it matters if cane is wet or dry.

Well I have drove them green and dry. Dry is lighter and easier to handle and the stiffness is needed if the cane you use is less than 1" in diameter. But green seems to grow algae more quickly and is less buoyant.

Here are 2 tips that will help you not mentioned and very important.

(1) Cut the cane sections to almost exactly same length for each bed you put out. It just makes your life easier when you put them out.

(2) If you use big cane 2" or better. Knock out the center with a piece of rebar. If not the air chambers will float many of them after you leave.

I've put out a bunch. I like to get them down to where you hit harder bottom. About 2' most of the time. I think they work better than condos.
