Default How To Drill Holes Into ABS Water Pipe

I scored a nice pile of used black plastic ABS water pipe for free.

I have it in a bunch of different sizes but primarily 4 inch and 1 1/2 inch. Is there an easy way to drill holes into the bigger pipe so I can stick in the smaller diameter 1 12/ inch pipe to create arms like an artificial tree?

From the expert's experience on this board - any recommendations for cutting holes/drilling into this type of plastic.

Thanks a bunch for your help - you folks are great!!!!!!!!!

I used a regular old hole saw to cut holes in PVC for my hydroponic garden.

If you get a bi-metal hole saw it will have holes and slots so that you can more easily remove the cut out plugs.

You might want to try a forstner bit. You won't have to clean it out ever time. But hang on, these babies bite hard.
