I guess it's safe to asume it dosn't ever rot away? I've read on this fourm that fish are still caught off 5 year old bamboo. Maybe no bamboo has reached end of life yet?

I Think It Depends On The Lake. It It Stays Submereged It Will Last For Years. If It Is On A Lake That Flucuates And Is Out Of The Water For Long Time Periods It Will Break Down Quicker Than If It Is Always Submerged.

Over in Louisiana they pull Cypress up out of the rivers that are a hundred years old or older. The wood is still good.
It would take years for wood to rot under water if the water never got above 80 degrees.
I just wish I could be better at fishing. Or maybe luckier!:D
