I think about the same time but Stakebeds are alot easier to fish ie: less hang ups. We drive stakes into the bottom of the lake about 1-2 foot and they stay around along time. Some people screw stakes to pallets then sink-em but it takes alot of wieght.

My experience has been that they get on boo quicker but they seem to fizzle out after the first few months the wood stakes takes a little longer to start producing but i have some oak stakes that have been in for 6 years and they just keep getting better,i dont see why you could'nt try both in the same area you just might get the best of both worlds.

I tried your idea of combining boo and stakes, Bugman. I took tall boo cut in half. Tied the tops to the large stalk part and drove'em into the bottom like stakes.Even used wood stakes with canes tied to them and drove'em in.
