    I would attempt to place it like the 2nd pic. Just because I think you could fish down in it easier. But what do I know...

    Agreed. And would use 3 2X4" in place of the 1X4"s, 1 on each end, 1 in the middle with 2 stainless steel deck screws per end of each 2X4". Attach 1- 14" cement block thru it`s center close to the center of each leg TIGHTLY with light steel cable and clamp and then interweave maybe a dozen 3-4`cedar limbs, osage orange, locust thru the slats and tie off with VHD weed eater line. Carry it out to a good spot and add at least 8 fow...please post pictures of finished project and PM me the GPS coordinates...

    I've had very good luck with standing them on end like in your 2nd picture. They do get pretty heavy and hard to handle if you add much stuff to them.
